It's been months since I was first told to start my own blog and I contemplated it for a long time. I wasn't sure if I can do it, but here it goes...

For those who don't know me, my name is Chris, I'm a 16-year-old student residing in Sydney, Australia. Me and my family first immigrated to Australia back in 2014 where we landed ourselves in the most beautiful place out there, Hayman Island. For the next 3 years, my brother and my mom resided on the island where mom worked and we studied whilst dad worked in the Middle East.

Unfortunately in 2016, a Category 5 cyclone named Cyclone Debbie battered the Whitsundays along with our island resort resulting in extreme destruction of the property. Days prior to the arrival of the cyclone, we could already feel the wind and sea changes. Mom was the Director of Human Resources whilst we were on the island meaning that she had to look after any employee-related complications, during this time, it was evident that her role was stretched to the limit and with everyone panicking on the island, it made it even worse. Days prior to landfall, hundreds of employees had already evacuated the island for the mainland and local airport where the company had hired a commercial jet to fly to the major cities throughout Australia. At this time only a number of staff remained as well as a handful of guests within the island. Unfortunately for us, after numerous calls and messages from our executive counterparts from around the world telling us to evacuate the island, there was no time left nor any transport departing. As a result of this, we braced ourselves for landfall. A long 6-hour debacle.

Our house then was a double-storey brick townhouse with windows facing the ocean perched on a cliff. From that sentence alone, it already gave me goosebumps. Back to it, one side of our house was on stilts whilst the other is pasted into the ground. As the day passes, strong wind and rain was our only television and most of the time we slept. Hours had past and a sudden change in weather had happened. We were in the eye. Long story short, we survived with no bruises or cuts but there's more to that.

In 2018 we then migrated to Sydney where we currently are and continued life as usual. Studying, Working, Eating, Relaxing.

Backtracking, me and my brother was born in Dubai where both my parents worked. We were then bought to the Philippines where we grew up with our grandparents. During this time, mom was working in the Maldives and was flying back and forth to Dubai and a few other countries whilst Dad based himself solely at Dubai.

I'm 16 now, sitting here, typing my story. Oh and by the way, I cook a lot and eat lots of food so my blogs will be about food and food recipes, for now.
